Stripe Express: All You Need to Know
To create a Stripe Express account, you need to be invited by a platform or a service that partners with Stripe, as Stripe Express is designed specifically for marketplaces and platforms that use Stripe for payments. You can’t create a Stripe Express account directly on your own without a platform that facilitates this.
Here are the steps to create a Stripe Express account through a partner:
- Join a Platform Using Stripe: Sign up for a marketplace, gig economy platform, or another service that processes payments using Stripe (e.g., Medium, Buy Me a Coffee, Quora, etc.). These platforms will prompt you to create a Stripe Express account as part of their onboarding process.
- Receive an Invitation: Once you’re on a platform, they will send you an invitation to set up a Stripe Express account. This typically comes via email with a link to register.
- Provide Information: Follow the link, and Stripe will guide you through providing the necessary information, such as:
— Personal details (name, address, phone number)
— Bank account details for payouts
— Verification documents like ID for compliance
- Set Up and Access: After submitting your information, Stripe will verify your details and set up your account. You’ll then be able to access your Stripe Express dashboard to manage your payments.
